Career Transitions has partnered with Lethbridge College and Skills Canada Alberta since 2001 to host the SW Regional Skills event. The Southwest Regional Skills Competition is 1 of 9 regional events held throughout Alberta.
The Regional Skills events showcase trades and technology occupations and reward students for their performance and commitment to these career paths. The Regional Competition is designed to develop a career awareness strategy that motivates youth to consider trades and technology occupations as a first-choice career option.
The SW Regional features 13 event areas. Some of the events are provincial qualifiers and that means that you must compete and win at a Regional level before you can go to the Provincial level competition. Each event area has a scope document which outlines the skills and knowledge that will be tested during the competition.
SkillsAB is currently planning on running this event virtually. No details have been received yet but as soon as they are, Career Transitions will get that out.
Date: March 1 through 19, 2021 – each competition will have a set competition date across the province
Time: TBD on a contest by contest basis
